Mental Health and Wellness at Work

  • Change always begins with awareness. Often awareness of stigma and subtle exclusionary behaviors eludes us. This is because bias and discrimination can reside beneath the surface of our consciousness. This fact is why exclusion and discrimination are so powerful.

The primary objective of this workshop is to bring the topic of mental health in the workplace into the light of every day conversartion. Participants will “talk about how we talk about” mental health, while learning about the impact our language can have on those around us. By considering what we say and how we say it, participants can elevate their own compassion while practicing the skills necessary for a flourishing workplace.

Participants will acquire competence in navigating uncomfortable conversations and build competencies in forging a diverse corporate culture that emphasizes compassion.

  • This workshop will introduce participants to the concept of mental health stigma describing how individuals can experience a spoiled identity as a result of characteristics that are not easily observable nor within their control. We will also discuss the origins and impact of prejudice broadly.

  • Discussions in small groups and plenary to illuminate the relevance of mental health in one’s own environment.

Reflective exercises for self-awareness, goal setting exercises, individual and group exercises to enhance acceptance, belonging, awareness, and change.

Other methods including interactive polls, role-play, various brainstorming techniques.
